Hempstead Town Recruits VITA Volunteers

Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray announced that the town is seeking volunteers for its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Through the VITA program, volunteers are trained and then assigned to town senior centers and local libraries to assist seniors in the preparation of their annual income tax returns.

Hempstead Town Begins Latest Phase of Affordable Homes

Continuing their quest to provide affordable housing opportunities to area residents, Supervisor Kate Murray and Councilwoman Dorothy Goosby recently commenced the latest phase of the Town's Affordable Homes program in Roosevelt. At a Town Board meeting on October 5th, six parcels of vacant land in Roosevelt were conveyed to Anray Custom Builders, Inc. for the construction of affordable, single-family homes.

Town Announces Registration For Senior Seasonal Flu Immunization Program

Town of Hempstead Supervisor Kate Murray has announced that registration for the annual Senior Citizen Seasonal Flu Immunization Program is now under way. The town, in cooperation with Nassau University Medical Center and South Nassau Communities Hospital, will be offering seasonal flu vaccinations for senior residents age 60 or older at several town locations.

Historic Rock Hall Hosts An Ol' Fashioned Country Fair

A band of rollicking, rowdy pirates sails into the Rock Hall Country Fair on Saturday, October 23 and Sunday, October 24. "Ye Pyrate Brotherhood" brings a weekend of swashbuckling pirate shows and sea shanties to Rock Hall Museum at 199 Broadway in Lawrence. Supervisor Kate Murray and Rock Hall will also present a harvest market, scarecrow making, pumpkin patch, food court, pony rides, animal farm and craft area for children.

Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray and Councilwoman Dorothy Goosby, along with Council Members Angie Cullin and Gary Hudes, Town Clerk Mark Bonilla and Receiver of Taxes Don Clavin, released details of a new development zone for the 77 acres of property surrounding the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
