"The Mayor’s Hour" Visits the New Glazer Children’s Museum

City of Tampa Since its exciting September opening, thousands of kids have roamed the new and highly anticipated Glazer Children’s Museum — discovering, creating, experimenting and learning through 170 hands-on exhibits. Mayor Pam Iorio and 970 Radio Personality Jack Harris check out this interactive learning center in the heart of downtown Tampa on this month’s The Mayor’s Hour on City of Tampa Television (CTTV). Guests on the show include Glazer Children’s Museum President/CEO Al Najjar, Director of Education Sarah Cole and Vice President of Development and Marketing Heidi Shimberg.

City of Tampa City of Tampa Television (CTTV) programming is now available on demand at TampaGov.net/cttv. The video-on-demand service is simple to use. From the web, visitors are able to locate programs by name and date, access available meeting agendas, and utilize closed captioning service when available.

Tampa's Water Use Restrictions Enforcement Returns To Normal

City of Tampa The City of Tampa will resume issuing citations on first observance for all water use restrictions violations at 12:01 a.m. on Monday, October 4, 2010. Residents and businesses are urged to make sure they are using the correct days to avoid receiving a citation, and a fine.

Twiggs Street Parking Garage Elevator Closure

City of Tampa In efforts to improve the operations of the Twiggs Street Parking Garage, an elevator modernization project will begin on Tuesday, October 5th that will last approximately 50 days and affect only the West elevator. During this time, the elevator will be inoperable. Patrons may use the elevator located on the East side of the garage or the stairs.

City of Tampa Mayor Iorio’s guest on the October episode of “Mayor’s Book Talk” is author Vincenza Scarpaci. The two discuss her book The Journey of the Italians in America. Her book mixes photographs and stories to detail the challenges and triumphs of Italian immigrants and their descendants from large urban areas to much smaller rural communities.

City of Tampa There will be a GTCERT Volunteer skills refresher training (Fire Suppression, Search and Rescue, and First Aid) on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at the Tampa Fire Rescue Training Academy. Training begins at 7:00 p.m. and wraps up around 9:00. We hope to see you there.

Park Renamed in Memory of Civic Activist

City of Tampa Spring Park is nestled along the banks of the Hillsborough River in the quiet Old Seminole Heights neighborhood. On Monday, September 27 the park will be renamed in memory of civic activist Alan Wright. Mayor Iorio and members of Tampa City Council will attend the 2 p.m. ceremony.
