The Minister for Jobs, Senator Chris Evans, welcomed the creation of 49,500 jobs in September, the strongest monthly employment growth since January this year and more than double median market expectations. This is another very strong result which underlines sustained jobs growth in our economy, Senator Evans said. Senator Evans said Australia's unemployment rate is around half that of major economies such as the United States and Europe where the jobless rate is around ten per cent.
